Step into the shoes of the ultimate Avatar in this fast-paced, tactical solo micro-game! The Eight is a strategy print-and-play adventure where you grid-navigate a treacherous battlefield, harness powerful virtue abilities, and attempt to clear out waves of invading creatures before your hit points run out.

Designed to be played alongside polyhedral dice and the printable tokens included in the file, this game packs heavy tactical decision-making into a quick setup.

Game Overview

  • Objective: Clear the map of all 9 enemy creatures—including Crawlers, Imps, Ghosts, Zombies, and the final Boss—while maintaining your Avatar’s health.

Components Needed to Play

  • Dice: 1x D8, 1x D6, 1x D10, 1x D4 (for Boss HP tracker), and 1x D12 (for Player HP tracker)

    • Dice Tip: For the full experience, check out the custom Virtue D8 Symbol Die on Etsy. Alternatively, you can play completely free using any standard numeric D8—just assign numbers 1–8 to each of the eight virtues on a piece of paper!

  • Paper & Pencil: For tracking virtue rolls during gameplay

  • Printout: Heavy cardstock recommended for printing the token and board sheet

How It Works

  1. Board Setup: Roll your D6 and D10 to randomly generate coordinates for walls and enemy tokens across the grid.

  2. Harness Virtues: Roll your D8 to unlock initial virtue tiles. Gain powerful movement and attack options—Slide across the board, Jump over hazards, or Shoot ranged strikes at incoming foes.

  3. Survive & Counter: Execute tactical maneuvers each turn while enemies move across the board toward your starting position. Manage your health on the D12 and take down the multi-HP Boss to secure victory!
